I am an interdisciplinary artist working with photography, sculpture, video and installation. My practice explores power dynamics and hierarchical structures, focusing on how they shape gender roles, particularly within culturally charged arenas such as sports.
I often draw on Iconography and visual language from both Art history and contemporary imagery in art and media to create large-scale, staged images. In these constructed scenes, I approach the human figure with a sculptural sensibility, creating tension between authenticity and documentation.
Collaboration is central to my practice, often involving intimate work with groups of men through extended performative and production-based processes. These encounters allow me to observe how masculinity is rehearsed, internalised, and embodied, particularly in collective, competitive contexts. The works that emerge include still photographs as traces of a performance, alongside video pieces revealing dynamics unfolding on set. The interplay between still and moving images creates a liminal space, opening questions not only about gender relations but also about shared spaces between cultures, religions, and identities.
Many of my projects expand into large-scale installations, extending beyond the image to create immersive environments. Each element - photograph, video, object, or installation- stands alone yet also forms part of a larger whole. Site-specificity also plays an important role in my work. I choose locations for their cultural, social, or symbolic resonance and, through staging and visual intervention, aim to evolve their familiarity into something unexpected.
My work offers the opportunity to recognise the subtle choreography of power and control in everyday life, and sense spaces where those dynamics might shift. Ultimately, it opens space for new readings of gender, culture, and identity that are both personal and collective.
